A team of 21 scientists have discovered over 100 new marine species off the coast of New Zealand – including one mystery creature.
Experts initially thought that the star-shaped creature might be a sea star or a sea anemone but so far it has proven to be neither. New species identified so far include dozens of mollusks, three fish, a shrimp, a squid and a new type of coral. More than two million species are estimated to live in the oceans. But only 10 percent of marine life has been discovered by researchers. |
