In 1945, a farmer named Lloyd Olsen beheaded a chicken in Colorado, but it refused to die.  The chicken kicked and ran, and didn’t stop.

Olsen put the chicken, which he named Mike, in a box on the porch and was amazed to find it was still alive the next morning.

Olsen decided to go on tour across America with Mike. Curious crowds paid 25 cents to see Mike, the “Wonder Chicken.”

Unfortunately, the tour didn’t last. 18 months after losing his head, Mike passed away in an Arizona hotel room.
