Strong winds brought storm clouds over a town in northwestern Serbia called Odzaci. But instead of rain, down came tiny frogs, witnesses said.

“I saw countless frogs fall from the sky,” said one town resident.

The frogs, which are different from those usually seen in the area, survived the fall and hopped around in search of water.

Serbian climatologist Slavisa Ignjatovic said the phenomenon was “not very unusual”. “A wind resembling a tornado can suck in anything light enough. Usually it’s just dust, but sometimes also larger objects” – even frogs.
