Larry Ely Murillo-Moncada, who was 25 at the time, was reported missing after he became upset and ran out of his home.

Investigators believe Mr. Murillo-Moncada went to the supermarket, climbed on top of the cooler and fell into an 18-inch gap between the back of the cooler and a wall, where he became trapped.

They claim any attempts by him to call out for help were muffled by the noise of the coolers’ compressors.

The scenario seemed plausible since former employees said that it was common for workers to take a break on top of the coolers.

His body was discovered by workers removing shelves and freezers from the now closed-down supermarket.
