In the hot and humid town of Shibushi, Japan, there lived a penguin who wore a backpack and walked alone to the fish market.
Lala was a king penguin who was rescued after being caught and injured in a fishing net. A kind family took him in and nursed him back to health. Apparently, the penguin refused to leave, so they decided to keep him as a pet. Lala loved going to the fish market, so the family put a tiny backpack on him and taught him to bring back fish from the market. Neighbors poured water on Lala’s head to cool him off whenever he was out strolling. Over a decade later, Lala died of old age, leaving the entire village in mourning for their beloved penguin. |
