| Hiroki Terai is the founder of a crying therapy service in Japan. Women pay a handsome man to make them cry, then gently wipe their tears away.
Why a handsome man? Because, according to Terai, handsome men elicit* more “emotionally heightened” experiences from women.
Ryuei-san, one of the handsome men, said that crying helps to relieve stress. Besides wiping the tears off the woman’s face, Ryuei-san will also sing songs or play guitar to comfort his client.
His most frequent customers are women experiencing divorce, and upwardly mobile women*.
*elicit = to get a reaction from somebody
*upwardly mobile women = women who are moving up the social ranks, or becoming richer |
