Eighteen piglets and two sows were saved from a barn in Wiltshire, England in February after 60 tonnes of hay caught fire. Firefighters battled the blaze, which was started by an electrical issue. Six months later, farm manager Rachel Rivers thanked the firefighters by giving them sausages made out of the grown animals.
Some people online were upset that the piglets ended up on the dinner table, but Rivers notes that this is just how a farm works.
The firefighters barbecued the sausages at the fire station, calling them “fantastic.” They also posted images of the barbecue on their Facebook page saying, “We got to sample the fruits of our labours from that February night.” |
