A new survey is raising eyebrows after revealing that 78% of men admit they like it when their girlfriend scolds them for making a mistake. For many men, it isn’t about enjoying criticism, but about feeling that their partner is attentive and cares enough to correct them.
“Scolding is often misunderstood,” said Dr. Marcus Bellman, a relationship counsellor. “For some, it signals emotional investment. They hear the criticism and think, ‘Wow, she cares enough to notice.’ And that emotional intensity can create a stronger sense of connection.”
Interestingly, far fewer women report feeling the same way. Only 13% say they like being scolded by their boyfriends.
Experts caution that while playful or lighthearted scolding may strengthen bonds, constant criticism or harsh words can quickly cause problems. Balance and respect are key for keeping relationships healthy. |
