| India’s first “poo song” has been released online as part of UNICEF’s Poo2Loo campaign against open defecation. The video features a mascot named Mr. Poo and begins with a man waking up and singing, “First thing in the morning, what do I see? A pile of shit staring at me.”
According to UNICEF, more than half the country’s population regularly defecates in the open. This problem contributes to serious health issues, with 48% of children suffering from diarrhea and worms due to contaminated drinking water.
Another component of the campaign is a video game called Toilet Trek, where players search for a toilet.
The Poo2Loo campaign may seem a bit silly, but it’s sparked a conversation about a health crisis in a country of over 1.2 billion people. |
