According to tradition, she’s a kind old witch who flies on a broom, delivering gifts to well-behaved children and coal to those who’ve been naughty. The story goes that she missed the opportunity to join the Three Wise Men on their journey to see the baby Jesus, so now she brings gifts every year to atone for that mistake.
