Michael Packard was diving for lobsters in Herring Cove Beach, Massachusetts when he was swallowed by a whale.

“I felt like I got hit by a freight train and everything went black,” Packard recalls. “I realized, ‘Oh my God, I’m in a whale’s mouth … and he’s trying to swallow me.'”

Packard thinks he was in there for about 30 seconds when the whale surfaced and started shaking its head in displeasure. “He started throwing his head side to side, and the next thing I knew I was outside.”

Packard was left with bruises, but he’ll otherwise be fine.

Ten years ago, Packard was in a plane crash that killed three people. He suffered multiple broken bones and spent 2 nights in the Costa Rican jungle before being rescued.
