You know the phrase “dodge a bullet”? Forget about it. It’s probably not going to happen anymore because the U.S. military has developed self-steering “smart bullets”.

Here’s how they work – the tips of each bullet include optical sensors. These sensors send signals to tiny fins on the bullet which adjust the path toward the target.

In tests, an experienced marksman repeatedly hit moving and evading targets. Even a novice shooter using the system for the first time hit a moving target.

Videos supplied by the military show the bullets making sharp turns in midair as they pursue their targets.
